Monocrystalline Panels are made from a single crystal structure. They offer the highest efficiency rates since they are made out of the highest-grade silicon. The solar cells within monocrystalline panels are a single, flat black color, which makes them popular due to their aesthetic.
Polycrystalline Panels, on the other hand, are made from a block of silicon that has multiple crystals. These panels have a blue hue due to the light reflecting off the silicon fragments in the cell in a different way than it reflects off a pure monocrystalline silicon wafer. They are slightly less efficient than monocrystalline panels.
Thin-Film Panels are made by placing one or more films of photovoltaic material (such as silicon, cadmium, or copper) onto a substrate. They are easy to produce and economies of scale make them cheaper than other options. However, they require a lot of space and are not as efficient as crystalline panels.
